Care Tips

Light Requirements

Match plants to your home’s natural light. Low-light plants (pothos, snake plants, ZZ plants) thrive in rooms with north-facing windows or away from windows. Medium-light plants (monstera, philodendron) prefer bright indirect light near east or west windows. High-light plants (succulents, cacti, fiddle leaf figs) need south-facing windows or very bright rooms.

Watering Guidelines

Most houseplants die from overwatering, not underwatering. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry to the touch. Use pots with drainage holes and empty saucers after watering. Different plants have different needs—succulents need infrequent watering while ferns prefer consistent moisture. When in doubt, wait another day before watering.

Basic Feeding

Feed houseplants during spring and summer growing seasons with water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2-4 weeks. Reduce feeding in fall and winter when growth slows. Overfertilizing causes more problems than underfertilizing, so less is more.

Common Problems

Yellow leaves usually mean overwatering. Brown leaf tips indicate low humidity or fluoride in water. Leggy growth means not enough light—move closer to a window. Drooping leaves signal underwatering. Our staff can help troubleshoot specific plant problems.
